Lenny Warner (Wiener) is giving a lecture on Neanderthal advanced culture and recent discoveries at Blue Heron Park Nature Center, 222 Poillon Avenue, this coming Friday, June 19, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM. The topics being covered will be Neanderthal burials, religious beliefs, cannibalism, caring for their fellow Neanderthals, interactions with Cro-Magnon people, advanced tools and ornamentation, Neanderthal DNA and genome, Neanderthal DNA in modern man, discovery of the Denisovans, recent discoveries, and extinction.

Blue Heron Park Visitor Center, 222 Poillon Avenue near Amboy Road
Take Hylan Blvd. to Poillon. On the corner of Hylan and Poillon there is a Greenside Up Nursery sign. Coming south from Great Kills, turn right onto Poillon; coming north from Huguenot, it is a left hand turn, toward Amboy Road. You will pass a few houses on both sides of the street, a wooded area, then a pond (Spring Pond), another stretch of woodlands, and then you will see the entrance gate on the left hand side to the Blue Heron Nature Center and the parking lot.
